Computer problems??

Having some troubles with your pc? Slowdowns maybe? Read on.

Here are some of the obvious reasons that makes your computer drag a lot and basic troubleshooting you can do.

~ Virus/Trojans/Malware ~

What to do?

- Download an anti-virus that you trust and update it. Make a scan on your pc and delete the viruses that'll appear. I recommend using AVAST! and Spybot which are free for home use. You can download them at http://www.download.com.

Note: Some viruses are almost impossible to delete by such anti-virus softwares and formatting your system is sometimes the best option.

~ Registry overload ~

- After some years of using your computer, including installation of softwares, can slow down your system. This is because of registry overload. Every time you install, download softwares, it creates a registry for easier process the next time you open or reinstall a certain file. But too much of this can clog up your hard drive space and create traffic. Some of these registries can be safely deleted. I recommend using CCleaner. You can download it HERE or visit http://download.com and search "ccleaner".

Note: Make sure before you delete your registries, you're familiar with them and that you make backups of it. Ccleaner can also do that for you.

~ Too much start-up processes ~

- Okay, this might be a little bit to confusing. Just hang in there. Hehe

Whenever you turn on your computer, several softwares that are installed in your system automatically starts up and run in background for easy access. Maybe it's your firewall, printer, camera softwares, etc.. If you rarely use some of these, you can disable them and just open them manually when needed.

To do this: Click START, then click RUN. Type in "msconfig" (without quotations) and press enter. Click the tab "startup" on top and uncheck the things you don't want to run on start-up. Click OK then restart your pc.

Note: Before doing this, make sure that you are familiar with the installed softwares or have someone who is. Unchecking things randomly might harm your system.
